The working guide · Distance is a solved problem Clients on four continents

Made in Paris, run from anywhere.

Most of the brands produced in this atelier have never set foot in it. Riyadh, London, Los Angeles, Tokyo: the collection is briefed, fitted, approved, and delivered without a flight. This is the exact system, stage by stage, including the measurement protocol, what happens when a fit is wrong, and who pays the customs bill.

The premise

Nothing requires your presence.

The fear behind every "do I need to visit the factory" search is reasonable: distance feels like losing control. In practice, control never lived in the visit. It lives in documents and physical objects that travel: a tech pack that specifies instead of suggests, a toile you can put on a body, a motif sample you can hold under your own light, a measurement protocol with tolerances. A founder in Riyadh holding an approved sample has more control than a founder standing on the cutting floor with none of those things.

One thread carries the whole project, WhatsApp or email, your choice, with the same team from brief to delivery. Photographs and video come to you at every gate, and nothing proceeds past a gate without your written approval. The distance never gets to make a decision.

The system

Six stages, six gates.

S/01

The brief. 48 hours.

Five lines and whatever references you have: sketches, photos, renders. You receive a fixed quote, a stage-by-stage timeline, and an honest answer about feasibility before any money moves.

S/02

Development. 2 to 3 weeks.

Pattern, tech pack, costed bill of materials, physical fabric swatches posted to you. For embellished work, a hand-worked motif sample. You approve objects, not promises. The documents are yours; details in the tech pack guide.

S/03

Sample. 2 to 4 weeks.

The first garment, cut and sewn, photographed flat and on the form, then couriered to you. You judge it in your hands, on your fit model, under your light, not on a video call's color balance.

S/04

Fit, by video.

A guided fitting on your side of the call: we direct, you pin and photograph. Changes are written into the pack with a new revision number, and corrections sew into the next round. Two rounds is the norm for a scoped style.

S/05

Production. 4 to 8 weeks.

Against the signed sample and the final pack, with progress photographs at agreed checkpoints. Couture and embellished pieces run longer and are gated by their own approved samples; quantities run by the category timelines on the rate card.

S/06

Delivery, declared honestly.

DHL or FedEx, insured, tracked: typically 1 to 2 days to the UK and EU, 2 to 4 to the Gulf and the US, 2 to 4 to Asia. Duties and import VAT are the importer's by law; we estimate them in writing before anything ships, so the landed cost is a number you approved, never a doorstep surprise.

The protocol

Measurements, without a fitting room.

Made-to-measure at distance stands on three legs. First, a guided measurement session: a written protocol of the points we need, taken by any second person with a soft tape while we direct on video; each point is read twice and recorded with the garment the client intends to wear beneath. Second, tolerances: every point of measure in the spec carries an acceptable range, agreed before cutting, which is what makes a remote fit enforceable instead of arguable. Third, the form: for couture clients we pad a mannequin to the recorded measurements, so every fitting after the first happens on a body double that does not need to be awake in your time zone.

When something is still wrong in the garment you receive, the pack decides, the same rule that governs every sample dispute: if the piece deviates from the signed spec, the remake is ours at our cost. If the spec was approved and the body changed, the alteration is quoted honestly. Either way it is a rule you read before you paid, not one invented during the argument.

The logistics

The distance, in numbers.

What travels, and how fast.

Courier times are working figures from live projects; duty regimes change, so every shipment gets a written landed-cost estimate before it leaves.

Questions / Before you order

Asked before every order.

How long does remote production take end to end?

Typically 8 to 15 weeks from brief to first delivery: 48 hours to a fixed quote, 2 to 3 weeks of development, 2 to 4 weeks to a couriered sample, a video fitting round, then 4 to 8 weeks of production depending on category.

Do I need to visit the atelier to produce my collection?

No. Control lives in documents and objects that travel: the tech pack, physical swatches, the couriered sample, a measurement protocol with tolerances, and written approval gates. Most brands we produce have never visited.

How do fittings work remotely?

The first sample is couriered to you and fitted on your side of a guided video call: we direct, you pin and photograph. Changes are written into the tech pack with a new revision number. For couture clients we also pad a mannequin to your recorded measurements so later fittings happen on a body double in Paris.

Who pays customs and import duties?

The importer, by law, in every country. The difference with a serious atelier is that duties and import VAT are estimated in writing before anything ships, so the landed cost is a number you approved rather than a doorstep surprise.
